Paul Reaney and grandsons Ex-Leeds United and England ace, Paul Reaney was a good luck omen for his footballing grandsons at the recent U12’s County Cup Final where the team, sponsored by Miller Homes, won with a fantastic score of 3-1 to clinch the cup.

Pannal Ash JFC were struggling for an away kit when the team managed to reach the cup final. Paul’s son Neil Reaney, is customer services manager for Miller Homes Yorkshire, and also team coach said: “We were in a bit of a sticky situation as the opposing team had the same colour kit. Thankfully Miller stepped in and donated enough money for a full kit. Although we were on tender hooks as the company providing the kit initially messed up the order and we only received it the day before the game. But, they sent it to Miller’s Edinburgh office instead of Wakefield, we had to get it couriered down and received it about 4 hours before kick off!”

The late arrival of the kit did not hinder the team in any way the team scored two early goals to lead 2-0 at half time. After an opportunist strike by the opposing team Pannal Ash clinched the winning goal just a few minutes later.

Neil continued: “It was great to see dad there cheering the team and his grandsons on. That along with their new kit and the many other supporters really gave the team a sense of pride and I’m sure spurred them on to win the match.”

Steve Birch, managing director for Miller Homes Yorkshire Region commented: “Sport is an essential part of growing up. It encourages team building and drives a competitive edge which certainly builds confidence in children. Miller is committed to supporting local organisations and we are pleased to sponsor a great team.”

Miller is proud of all the teams it has supported and is pleased the Miller logo will be associated with team building and success.
