£11 million development coming to Bradford

The site of the former Birkshead Mill at Wilsden has been acquired by Leeds-based Persimmon with detailed planning permission, granted by Bradford Metropolitan Borough Council. The scheme, which follows on from the success of Westwood Park in Bradford and Wibsey Park Gardens in Buttershaw, will be worth close on £11 million gross development value. It will comprise just 41 properties including a mix of two bedroom apartments, two, three and four bedroom mews’ and four bedroom detached homes.
Persimmon’s investment in developing this once-redundant site is further evidence of the company’s ongoing commitment in breathing new life into former industrial sites. In fact, around 69 per cent of all homes Persimmon will build across West Yorkshire this year will be on brownfield land.
Richard Smith, Land Director for Persimmon’s West Yorkshire region is confident the scheme will come as welcome news to local househunters. He comments: “As we have witnessed at our former Bradford-based developments, there’s an exceptional demand for high quality homes in this particular area and we are delighted that we are able to respond to the current shortfall.”
On site work is scheduled to commence in September ahead of first occupations in February 2008.
Persimmon Homes West Yorkshire is always interested in purchasing land and a site occupying two acres or more and within an easy drive of a local town and amenities can often be suitable. If you’re a vendor and would like to know more, please call Richard Smith.
