New home new life – thanks to eco-friendly development

Buying a new home can be a life changing experience, this has never been so true for one family living at Miller Homes’ unique eco-friendly development in Allerton Bywater. The Naylor family have literally changed their lifestyle to be more in tune with ethos of the development.

“It was our intention to move to a development which boasted a great community spirit and was family orientated, we found Miller’s Millennium Village to be just that. The eco-friendly benefits of the home was an added advantage,” said Jane Naylor.

Since moving to Millennium Village the Naylor family have made a conscious decision to not use a tumble dryer, dishwasher or microwave because of the energy usage and chemicals. The family have also joined an organic farming scheme, whereby they pay a nominal fee to receive a box of fresh organic vegetables each week. The family also gets involved with the planting.

“When we joined the scheme we went along and decided to get our hands dirty by helping to plant our future produce, it inspired us that much that we now even grow our own vegetables in the garden which Holly loves to harvest!” continued Jane.

The Naylor family haven’t stopped there in their bid to become an eco-friendly family. Paul Naylor even recycles old desk lamps into plant pots and turns fabric off cuts into fabulous roman blinds.
