(L-R) Les Dorman and Laurence McLaughlin celebrate their NHBC Award success Two Miller Homes Yorkshire site managers have been awarded the prestigious National House-Building Council (NHBC) Quality Award out of 18,000 site managers across the country.

Les Dorman site manager for the cosmopolitan Central Park development in Far Headingley, Leeds and Laurence McLaughlin site manager for the exclusive Fairfield Manor development in Wakefield have both received the Quality Award under the NHBC’s 2007 Pride in the Job Campaign. The campaign is an annual competition to find site managers who are particularly committed to building quality homes for customers.

The candidates are judged on their commitment to high standards in all areas of the construction process. Judges visited the sites at key stages of construction, starting from when the foundations were laid to the homes completion. The site managers needed to prove that they have effective control of all areas of their site at all times.

Les Dorman commented: “I am really proud to receive the award. I have managed to achieve it twice before but it is my first time with Miller Homes.

Les has been site manager at Central Park for the last 20 months and attributes winning the award to a great team and getting the job done right first time, every time.

Laurence McLaughlin site manager at the recently opened exclusive Fairfield Manor development in Wakefield is the second manager from the region to be awarded the impressive Quality Award. Laurence has been with Miller Homes since the take over of Fairclough. This is also his second award after having achieved his first NHBC Quality Award for the Miller Homes College Gardens development in Doncaster.

Laurence said: “It’s all in the organisation, to be a good site manager means you have to be focused know your project timetable and surround yourself with a good team. You are only as good as your team so I’m proud to receive this award on behalf of the whole team at Fairfield Manor.”

Managing director for Miller Homes Yorkshire, Steve Birch said: “We are really proud of our award winning managers. They have been the driving force behind two of our most successful developments.

“Both Les and Laurence are excellent site managers and deserve the recognition they are a great asset to the Miller Homes team.”
