A higher level at The Forge

A family from Leeds are appreciating living life over three levels after buying a new townhouse at The Forge, George Wimpey West Yorkshire’s development at St James Village. Erica and Neil Barker moved from their three bedroom house in Pudsey into a new Lowestoft four bedroom, three-storey townhouse in June with three year old daughter Erin. The couple had been looking to upsize and felt that The Forge offered them a much larger house for their money in an excellent area.

When the couple first visited the Lowestoft show home, they entered a competition to win some cinema tickets and received a call from Kathy the sales executive to say they had won.

Erica says: “We’d seen the Lowestoft house and were very keen. Going back to collect our prize just confirmed our decision. We took another look round the show house and knew it was for us.”

Since the Barkers have moved into their new home, they say they are really enjoying the practicality of living over three storeys.

Erica comments: “Having the extra floor has made a big difference to us. It means that all four bedrooms are a very good size, the house has a lovely light and airy feel to it, and we have lots of storage space.

“It also gives us a downstairs cloakroom, a family bathroom and an en-suite bathroom, which makes life so much easier when you have a toddler to look after.”

The couple were particularly attracted to the development because of the surrounding area. “It’s a great place for children,” says Erica. “There is a farm just a short walk up the road where we buy our free range eggs and Erin loves seeing the animals.

“We’ve also got a good-sized garden with a view over fields, and to the front of the house we’ve got a fantastic view over the city and Elland Road, which Neil is particularly pleased with. It looks very impressive when the city is lit up at night.”

The Forge is also in an ideal location for the family in terms of commuting and getting out and about. Erica is a part time office supervisor for the Lord Mayor of Leeds so she takes a bus to work, and Neil is an account manager and has to travel a lot, so being so close to the motorway is very convenient for him.

The Barkers took the All Expenses paid option with George Wimpey, where the company paid all their moving costs, including their estate agent fees, solicitors’ costs, stamp duty and survey fees.

Erica says: “Going with the All Expenses package took away a lot of the financial pressure, and allowed us to save a lot of money, which we’ve put towards new furniture for the house.

“The moving process went incredibly smoothly and we’ve been very impressed by the customer service we’ve received, both from the sales executives and the site manager. They have been very professional and friendly every step of the way.”
