New incentives for first time buyers

22nd January 2008 Print
New incentives for first time buyers With figures from the Halifax suggesting the average house is now out of reach for first time buyers in 96% of towns in the UK, Redrow is coming to the rescue with its new homes in Gilstead.

Offering competitively priced two-bedroom apartments and houses, with 5% deposit paid on selected plots, Oak Glen is giving cash strapped buyers a chance to make a jump on to the property ladder and buy a place that they can truly call home.

There’s even the opportunity for purchasers worried about making the step onto the property ladder at this particular time to protect the value of their new home for up to three years with Redrow’s new House Price Protection*.

Whether it’s single-storey or layered living you’re after, the award-winning housebuilder’s latest venture in West Yorkshire is guaranteed to tick every box with impressive terraced dwellings and apartments available – all perfect for a first home or sharing with buddies.

Giselle Ledgard, area sales manager for Redrow Homes (Yorkshire) says: “The properties at Oak Glen, which include the ‘Canterbury’ house with two double bedrooms and ‘Avon’ style apartments, are affordably priced and have spacious layouts, making them perfect for single first time buyers, couples and people wishing to share with friends.

“Also, buying a home seems an impossible dream for many young people who find it a real struggle to save up enough money for an acceptable deposit, so hopefully our offer of a 5% deposit paid is a big help and will help make the dream a reality. It’s worth several thousand pounds to them in real terms.”

The Canterbury is a mid-terrace home with prices starting at £159,999. Opening with a hallway, this desirable property comprises a spacious living and dining area with double patio doors leading to the rear garden, separate fitted kitchen with stainless steel oven, hob and cooker hood, plus cloakroom and under-stairs storage. Upstairs are the two double bedrooms and a modern bathroom with white suite and chrome finish fittings.

The two-bedroom Avon apartment, priced from £129,999, features an open-plan kitchen and living area and comes complete with a single parking space.

Although ideal for first time buyers, Oak Glen also has homes suitable for people on every stage of the property ladder, including families and empty nesters.

The property mix at Oak Glen includes the three-bedroom Kennett, currently priced from £249,999 and the four-bedroom detached Roadford, currently priced at £329,999. The impressive four-bedroom Weaver features two en-suites, a separate dining room, a double detached garage and is available to buy for £449,995

Oak Glen itself is in a great location, with Bradford city centre just a short drive away, as well as having good access to the M62 and being less than 20 miles from Leeds.
