The UK’s most affordable new home?

Data from Rightmove.co.uk, the UK's number one property website, confirms that it is the lowest priced new build home in Yorkshire. Unlike other affordable homes which are shared equity, Consort’s I-Gen home design is 100 per cent full ownership and is a genuine house, with its own front door and car parking space.
Richard Cook, managing director at Consort Homes, said: “We know that there are still people in our region who have either found it difficult to get on the property ladder because of cost, who prefer full ownership of their home or do not want to live in an apartment.
“Our new I-Gen homes tick all these boxes – we have made a new home, built to our exacting standards, that is the cheapest new house in the region, and perhaps the whole of the UK.
“School Lea in Halifax is our launch site for the new I-Gen home, but we have nine existing developments across Yorkshire and Scotland and we are certainly looking to roll this concept out.”
Geoff Fricker, Head of Corporate Relations for Rightmove New Homes, said: “Affordability plays an important role in enabling first time buyers to make that first step onto the housing ladder and so anything aiding that should be most welcomed.”
Speaking about being the lowest priced home, Richard Cook added: “There are shared ownership homes available in the region, but of course buyers only own a percentage of the home, not the whole house.
“Also, there are new apartments for sale which are cheaper – however, we wanted to offer the most affordable new home that didn’t include things like management fees, communal corridors and shared entrances.”
