Top award for Jones Homes’ Dominic Connolly

An apprentice joiner at Jones Homes’ Brooklands View development in Skelmanthorpe has been awarded ‘Best Second Year Student Site Based’ from the Construction Industry Training Board (CITB).

The award has been presented to Dominic Connolly, 18, who is currently a student on the CITB training scheme at Huddersfield Technical College.

The course gives students both classroom and on-site practical training to build up the skills necessary for their chosen profession. Attending college lectures once a week, Dominic spends the remainder of his time working alongside the construction team at Brooklands View.

Designed to recognise and reward students who demonstrate the highest level of commitment to the development of the appropriate skills and awareness of the construction industry. Students are nominated each year by their college tutor, who then selects the overall recipricant.

Dominic, from Shepley in Huddersfield, has worked for Jones Homes since leaving school two years ago. He said: “I am pleased to receive this CITB award. I thoroughly enjoy the course and benefit from working on-site at Brooklands View. It’s great to be working with such a dedicated and talented team who have been excellent mentors while I complete my training.”
