Home sweet home? I do!

Newlyweds Angela and Matthew Riley relax in their new dining room at Kirks Paddock. Getting married signifies a new beginning and what better way to start a new life than with a new home.

That’s exactly what Angela and Matthew Riley did as soon as they landed back on UK soil, after getting married in Las Vegas.

Angela, 25, says: “We had an amazing wedding in Las Vegas with all our family and close friends, before flying out to Hawaii for our honeymoon.”

But getting married wasn’t the only big change the couple were making – they’d also decided to start their married life in a new home at Kirk’s Paddock, in Scartho Top, Grimsby, albeit one only 500 yards away from their existing home.

Angela explains: “We bought our first house together at Scartho Top three years ago – a three-bedroom semi-detached property – and really liked the community feel there. We’d wanted to move to a bigger house for a while, but couldn’t afford it because we were saving for the wedding.

“But then a four-bedroom Redrow property came on the market and we just fell in love with it. The next thing we knew, we’d put our house on the market, had an offer for it within the week, and then reserved our dream home immediately afterwards.”

But with the wedding getting nearer, the couple needed a bit of help to get everything organised on time.

Angela says: “The completion date on our new home fell while we were going to be away, but fortunately a good friend offered to sort out all the paperwork and move our belongings – I don’t know what we’d have done without her!”

And so with everything taken care of, Angela and Matthew were able to move into their new house the day after returning to the UK as Mr. and Mrs. Riley, “It was a great start to married life,” she adds.

Angela and Matthew have bought a Parrett house type at the new homes development, and love the extra space it affords them. “I have my dressing table and wardrobe in one of the spare bedrooms at the moment,” Angela laughs, adding: “Having the extra room means we can have friends over to stay – and last Christmas was the first time we could have family over for Christmas dinner, as we’d never have had space for before.”

Julie Rayner, sales director for Redrow Homes (Yorkshire), says: “Kirk’s Paddock is a great development with a range of homes suitable for all types of buyer. The fact that Angela and Matthew couldn’t bear to move away is testament to the lovely local community, which is growing all the time as people move into our new homes.”

Whilst Kirk’s Paddock is located on the edge of the town, with views over surrounding open countryside, the development is situated just two miles from Grimsby town centre, which offers a wealth of restaurants, bars and shopping. Train services from Grimsby offer direct routes to Manchester, Doncaster and Sheffield, whilst Doncaster Airport is under an hour’s drive away.
