Landmark appointment for Persimmon Homes
At just 28, Daniel Le Neveu was renowned for being the youngest land director across Persimmon’s 24-strong group of regional companies and now has successfully become the first ever divisional land director to be appointed by the Group.Formerly Wolverhampton-based Persimmon Homes West Midlands’ land director, Daniel has been promoted to divisional land director for the Group’s central region.
An astounding achievement, this significant promotion comes just seven years after Daniel graduated from Nottingham Trent University after gaining a BSc in Residential Development. He began his career as acquisition surveyor, however, promotion to land buyer, land manager, senior land manager and land director followed in quick succession.
As part of this newly created role, and in a coup for all youngsters working in the construction industry, Daniel will be responsible for significant land acquisitions and developing wider relationships with major landowners for the Central region – a division which comprises 11 regional companies stretching from Lancashire in the north to Maidenhead in the south.
He’ll also have a role in taking forward the company’s non-residential portfolio, negotiating the sale and disposal of its commercial and industrial land.
Daniel cites one of his best ever land deals as the acquisition of the former Cape Hill Brewery site in Birmingham in 2004 – a deal that, at the time, was the largest ever acquisition for Persimmon’s West Midlands region. He said “There’s a real sense of achievement when you buy one of the sites you identified as a viable option, it gets planning and construction begins and Cape Hill was one of those instances.”
Although Daniel admits less complex planning processes would make his role easier, he is looking forward to the challenges this promotion will bring. He said: “When the Government introduced planning guidelines regarding the development of brownfield land back in 2004, this represented a major challenge to all housebuilders and while we were positive about the enforcements, a great deal of hard work went into making significant changes in the purchase of land.
“I’m delighted to be playing a part in helping change the residential face of the region and I’m looking forward to the challenges this new role will bring.”
Daniel lives in Pedmore, Stourbridge and is an avid Rugby fan.
