Lessons in love with Barratt

Lessons in love with Barratt Pupils at Netherbrook Primary School have celebrated the month of love by taking part in a Valentine’s poetry competition whilst earning a cash donation for their school.

Housebuilder Barratt West Midlands, which is building 24 new homes at its nearby Boundary Brook development on Bowling Green Road, invited the pupils to express their love for someone they care about this Valentine’s Day with a special poetry competition. A total of 161 entries were received which earned the school a cash donation of £161.

Bet Crawford, Senior Sales Manager for Barratt, who went to the school last week to present the prizes, commented, “We are very impressed with all of the entries and it has been very tough to choose the winners. However the three poems which really stood out were by Bradley Roberts (11) who took third prize, Rachael Davey (8) with second prize and Paris Lane (9) who was awarded first prize. Each of the three winners earned themselves WH Smith vouchers.

“It is very important for us to support the local communities in which we build and competitions like this are a great way to give something back. It is clear that all of the children have put in a tremendous effort and we must say a big well done to all of those who took part and told their friends and family just how much they care.”

Paris’ winning entry read:

I love you
Yes I do
For all the things that you always do
You make me better when I feel sad
You make me feel better when I feel bad
You have always done your best for me
Although I don’t show it I can see
So this is my Valentine’s poem for my mom and stepdad
To have as parents I am very glad
I want to say thank you to them both
From the bottom of my little mouth
I love you, thank you.

All of the poems are now on display in the sales office at Boundary Brook until the end of the month.

Boundary Brook comprises 24 three-bedroom houses. Prices start from £157,000. For more information log on to Barratthomes.co.uk/boundarybrook.
