Mica Point offers best option for first-time buyers

9th June 2008 Print
In the past, government initiatives for first-time buyers have been geared solely towards key workers and those in a low income band. Now, households with incomes of up to £60,000 are eligible for a new initiative that is available for first-time buyers.

Introduced in this year's Budget, MyChoice HomeBuy is the latest government-led initiative which offers a contribution of a loan of up to 50% towards the purchase price of a first home. The equity loan is specifically for first-time buyers and, unlike past government initiatives, is available to households with incomes between £20,000 and £60,000 (from as low as £15,000 for the West Midlands). This is an ideal opportunity for struggling first-time buyers to receive assistance into full home ownership.

Inspace Homes is promoting this new initiative for first-time buyers at their development Mica Point in Lytham Croft, Birmingham. As well as all the standard fittings and fixtures, Inspace Homes is also offering a furniture pack to all first-time buyers purchasing on the development through the MyChoice HomeBuy scheme. This pack will include furniture provided by Connections in Design as well as a number of soft furnishings.

For first-time buyers, not only will they be getting substantial assistance with their deposit through the MyChoice HomeBuy scheme, but they will also receive furniture and furnishings at no extra cost which will help them save money and allow them to move straight in their new home.

Located on Great Colemore Street, the apartments at Mica Point are situated within a four-storey building that blends brick, render and wood to create a contemporary structure. The open-plan apartments range in size from 469sq ft for a one-bedroom property and rise to 710 sq ft for a two-bedroom apartment. Kitchens are from Nolte's Manhattan range and come complete with integrated Zanussi appliances. Bathrooms are fitted with white sanitaryware by Ideal Standard, heated tower rails, chrome taps and a glazed bath screen.

The development is within easy reach of the cosmopolitan centre of Birmingham, with its broad range of shops, bars and restaurants. Birmingham New Street station is a five-minute walk from Mica Point and offers fast and frequent services into London Euston with journey times around 90 minutes. For road users, the M6 is located 10-minutes drive away. For international travel, Birmingham International airport is only 20-minutes drive away.

Following last month's successful seminar for first-time buyers, Inspace Homes will be hosting a second seminar on Wednesday, 11th June at Malmaison Hotel in Birmingham. The seminar, which starts at 6:30pm, will provide first-time buyers with further information on the MyChoice HomeBuy scheme as well as show how it is possible to get their foot onto the property ladder.

Sue Gresswell, Sales and Marketing Director at Inspace Homes, comments:

"Inspace Homes remains committed to helping first-time buyers and by hosting a second seminar; we hope to educate more people on how it is possible to purchase a home, especially with a new initiative like the MyChoice HomeBuy scheme. We also hope that by providing a complimentary furniture pack at Mica Point, we are helping first-time buyers save even more money."

The first completions at Mica Point are expected in December 2008 and prices will start from £134,000. For further information, visit Mica-point.co.uk.

The seminar starts at 6:30pm on Wednesday, 11th June and will take place at the Malmaison Hotel on One Wharfside Street, Birmingham B1 1RD.
