Barratt to build big in Bloxwich

25th June 2008 Print
Award-winning housebuilder Barratt West Midlands is coming to Bloxwich after securing land to build a substantial development of new homes for the local community.

The Bridles will be built on the site of the former Bloxwich Engineering Works on Bell Lane and will comprise 117 properties with a mix of two-, three-, four- and five-bedroom houses and two bedroom apartments.

Construction is due to begin in June subject to planning confirmation and once all the existing buildings have been demolished. The first homes are expected to be ready by November 2008 with the whole development due to be completed by June 2010.

David Child, Sales Director for Barratt West Midlands commented, "The site is situated in a well established residential area that is bordered to the north, south and west by parklands, a cricket club and open space. These factors combined to the wide range of property styles available will ensure The Bridles is an attractive development where people will want to live.

"As well as private sales, the development will also see a number of affordable housing units of a shared ownership tenure, which will provide opportunities for a wide range of local purchasers."

Built around the coal mining and other manufacturing industries, Bloxwich is rich in history and is well known for its canals. The town is superbly located for transport, close to the M6, with two railway stations and a number of bus routes connecting the town with the surrounding areas. There is a variety of shopping and leisure facilities available, with both Bloxwich Park and Bloxwich Golf Club just a short distance away.
