Barratt goes with the flow in Stourport

1st July 2008 Print
Housebuilder Barratt West Midlands is giving Stourport a helping hand following its development of 144 new homes in the canal basins area, by sponsoring the towns Flow Festival, which is taking place in July to celebrate the completion of the Stourport canal basins restoration project.

The development, called Water's Edge, is situated around Lichfield Basin and offers a wide selection of one- and two-bedroom apartments and two- three- and four-bedroom houses. As build work gets well underway, Barratt has donated £1,000 towards the Flow Festival which is taking place between the 11th and 13th July.

The Flow Festival organised by British Waterways is a free event which has been devised to celebrate the restoration of Stourport's canal basins, the series of canal docks which link the Staffordshire and Worcestershire canal with the River Severn. The aim of the regeneration was to bring the basins and their surroundings back into full, vibrant and sustainable use and with restoration now complete, British Waterways is inviting locals to come and celebrate the new look of the basins with the Flow Festival.

David Child, Sales Director for Barratt commented, "Water's Edge is a significant new development for Stourport and is situated around one of the regenerated basins, therefore it seemed only natural that we would support the Flow Festival. We are delighted to donate £1,000 towards the festival which will help not only existing residents, but future residents celebrate the new look of the basins and enjoy them for many years to come."

Water's Edge is ideally located just a few minutes walk from Stourport's town centre which offers a range of high street shops, bars and restaurants, whilst Kidderminster is only four miles from the development and Worcester just 13 miles away.

The Flow Festival will include three fun packed days of entertainment such as a procession, street entertainers, a moving museum, craft and food stalls. The highlight and focal point to the weekend will be the performance of ‘The Devil's Tale' which is being performed by Spanish performance company, Spiral.

Susannah Ronan, British Waterways Arts and Project Coordinator for the Basin Restoration project said: "We would like to thank Barratt West Midlands for sponsoring the festival, it's going to be a fun packed day for all the family to enjoy and a great way to celebrate all the fantastic work that's been done to restore the canal basins back to their former glory."

Prices at Water's Edge start from £159,750. For more information log on to Barratthomes.co.uk/watersedge.
