Barratt team embark on white knuckle RNLI challenge Last month members of Barratt West Midland's Technical Team embarked on a white water rafting challenge for charity near Lake Bala on the edge of Snowdonia National Park. The six man team headed down to Wales with inflatable jackets at the ready, to try their luck against the roaring currents of the River Treweryn.

The Halesowen-based team took part in the challenge and raised a fantastic £1750.00 for the RNLI (Royal National Lifeboat Institution) in support of the hard work and commitment that the institution provides all year round.

The RNLI is funded entirely on voluntary donations so the money raised will go along way to help maintain the boats and safety equipment including the running of over 230 lifeboat stations around the coasts of the United Kingdom and Republic of Ireland each year.

Andy Cohu, 41, Technical Director at Barratt West Midlands explained, "The challenge took place on the River Treweryn near Lake Bala and involved a white water course of approximately a quarter of a mile which the teams had to run three times. 15 teams took part in the charity challenge and the team with the shortest run was the winner."

Andy and his team mates Dean Knight, Paul Coles, Bernard Dunn, Lee Perry and Graham Benwell did not need much preparation for the competition as each of them are keen sportsmen and were aware of the difficulties they might face throughout the challenge.

"Although the team and I were aware of the dangers in the competition and even though we lost Dean overboard for about 15 seconds, which I will continue to maintain was our fastest run, we really did have a lot of fun, something we would all like to do again especially as it was for such a worthy cause."
