Mica Point takes on new interior flair The brand new show apartment at Mica Point, Inspace Homes development in Birmingham, demonstrates how to create interior style on a budget. Dressed by Connections in Design Ltd, one of the UK’s leading interior design companies, this show apartment will inspire prospective purchasers on how to bring stylish design into their brand new home without breaking the bank.

First-time buyers at Mica Point will also benefit from a complete furniture pack, allowing them to move immediately and effortlessly into a new home.

Di Franklin, Sales Director at Connections in Design, comments: “Mica Point is a stylish development in a vibrant area of Birmingham. We dressed the show apartment in such a way that it would stand out from the crowd using black and fuchsia as the main colours."

The overall design scheme of the show apartment is based on a digital print wall covering in the living room with a large white and pink orchid set against a black background. To accompany this display, contemporary furniture is used including a modern white leather L-shaped sofa with black and fuchsia cushions, a sleek media unit and a black glass coffee table.

Apartments can be stylish on a budget by adding more colour whether through the use of paint or by adding coloured cushions. Di continues: "Be brave with colour, a pot of paint is inexpensive and makes a big impact to the overall look and feel of an apartment. There is no substitute for fresh flowers or plants which brings a room to life. Lastly, experiment with lighting either by having lamps at different heights or using uplighters to highlight an item in the room. This brightens up an area and creates a different look.”

For first-time buyers, Inspace Homes is offering a ‘uchoose’ furniture pack provided by Connections in Design which includes furniture such as a bed, bedside tables, sofas, media unit, coffee table, etc. Additionally, the furniture pack includes a choice of soft furnishings such as curtains with various headings, light fittings for each room, and fabric colour scheme choices for curtains, upholstery and a bed headboard with a choice of midnight black, deep blue, pink hues, turquoise, neutrals, pillar box red. This provides first-time buyers not only with the savings of time and money, but most importantly a brand-new home ready to move into and enjoy.

The interior of the bedroom reflects a softer design, which is more subtle in colour and style. The bedroom walls are wrapped with Elitis white pearlized wallpaper and the windows hold white Venetian blinds. The bed is in keeping with the show apartment theme with a black and fuchsia unique floral designed bedcover. Throughout the show apartment mirrors are used to great advantage notably above the dining table, in the hall, and a mirrored statue is placed in the bathroom to create a feeling of space.

Di further comments: "It is important to maximise the space and light you have especially in apartments, so placing mirrors in strategic places can help achieve this."

At Mica Point, Inspace Homes is offering a new government-led initiative called MyChoice HomeBuy scheme. Available to first-time buyers with household incomes between £20,000 and £60,000 (from as low as £15,000 for the West Midlands), the MyChoice HomeBuy scheme is offering loans of up to 50% towards the purchase price of a first home. This new initiative makes it possible for struggling first-time buyers to fulfil their dreams of immediately owning a brand-new home.

The first completions at Mica Point are expected in December 2008 and prices will start from £114,500. For more information, log on to Mica-point.co.uk.
