Competition winner shows her pride in Camp Hill

In partnership with Pride in Camp Hill (PinCH), local people were invited to view details for the 800 or so new homes at the preview held at the Family Community Care Centre on Ramsden Avenue, Camp Hill. Existing and potential new residents were able to look at plans, ask questions and make suggestions for a name for the scheme. Bromford Housing Group and local council housing representatives were also on hand to advise residents.
Andrew Dauncey said, "To have reached this stage in the planning of Camp Hill phase three is very exciting and we really wanted to get local people, as well as children involved in the new community. The preview was designed to give them a chance to voice their opinions on the designs, layout and style of the development and to see plans for the energy efficient new homes David Wilson will build.
"It was fantastic to see so many youngsters taking part in the colouring competition and getting excited about Camp Hill and the positive change the revamp will make on the surrounding area. Rosie-Beth's entry stood out amongst the rest, so congratulations to her on a superb entry. She will be just one of the many children who will see this project from start to finish and will notice the impact it has on the facilities available to young people."
Pride in Camp Hill set to work in 2001 to regenerate the physical environment of the mining area and also improve the social, educational and economic outlook of the area with training initiatives, new groups and partnerships with the local police, education authority and councils.
David Wilson plans to build a range of one- and two-bedroom apartments and two-, three- and four-bedroom houses in a variety of different designs. The home styles have been designed to offer a lifetime's range of homes from first-time buyers though to the retired. All the homes will have allocated parking, some with garages and there will also be a provision for visitor parking.
The jury is still out on a name for phase three, so anyone with a great idea which will sum up the new community should contact PinCH.
