Youngster wins David Wilson Christmas card competition

Years three to six from Landywood Primary School in Great Wyrley took part and year five pupil, Eden Maxwell's entry was named top of the pile. Eden's design focused on Christmas as a time where her family get together and enjoy spending time with each other. She drew a scene of her house, with a cosy fireplace, decorated tree, with snow outside the window. The entry has now been printed onto special David Wilson Mercia cards for all pupils at the school and will also be sent to residents at the housebuilder's Washbrook Gardens development.
Aside from Eden in year five, seven-year-old Lucy Evans and eleven-year-old Bryn Sharratt were picked as runners up. Competition was fierce as there were so many colourful Christmas scenes, but the eventual winners all received a £10 WHSmith voucher and a goody bag for their efforts.
The winner and runners-up were presented their prizes and the final Christmas card was revealed on Friday, 12th December at the school's assembly.
Headteacher, John Withers, said, "All our pupils loved taking part in the design competition and it definitely got them even more excited about Christmas, if that was at all possible! Eden was so surprised to have won and she obviously cannot wait to take the finished article home to her parents.
"I would like to thank David Wilson for organising the competition and for providing the prizes - it really has meant they have had even more to look forward to at the end of all their hard work this term."
Chris Ashmore, Sales Director for David Wilson Mercia, said, "It is always good to see children having fun whilst they learn, which is one of the reasons why we organised the competition for the pupils of Landywood Primary School.
"Our Washbrook Gardens development is great for families looking for that special home which is near to a school they would be happy to send their children to. What is more, the prices suit all buyers and budgets alike - the perfect ingredients for a dream home."
Landywood Primary School is on Holly Lane, just a few minutes away from Washbrook Gardens, which is situated on the same road. The development offers two-bedroom apartments and three-, four-, five- and six-bedroom homes, with prices starting from £199,950. For further information, log on to Dwh.co.uk.
