Persimmon promotes Home Buy Direct scheme

11th March 2009 Print
Persimmon promotes Home Buy Direct scheme First time buyers who currently do not own their own home in the West Midlands are now able to secure a brand new property at 70 per cent of its market value, courtesy of Wolverhampton-based Persimmon Homes and a new Government initiative.

With the widest choice of properties allocated from the new Government HomebuyDirect scheme, Persimmon is able to cater for most types of buyer, whatever their circumstances. For example households with incomes below £60,000 who can not otherwise afford to purchase unassisted on the open market, would probably now qualify to buy a new home with this scheme.

More than 3,100 homes at over 200 Persimmon developments across the UK are available under the Government’s HomeBuy Direct scheme – with 210 properties at 14 developments in the West Midlands region alone.

House hunters will only be required to raise funding for 70 per cent of the purchase price including a mortgage plus any deposit. The remaining 30 per cent is made up by an equity loan which is co-funded by the Government and Persimmon Homes.

Persimmon’s HomeBuy Direct properties, which include a range of one to six bedroom homes priced from just £62,950, are available at:

- Chenet Park, Cannock
- Crystal Mead, Stourbridge
- Deers Leap, Edgbaston
- Manby Gate, Tipton
- Mitchells Brook at Cape Hill Village, Smethwick
- Newlands Park, Cannock
- Sandfields, Lichfield
- Tame Village, Tamworth
- The Chestnuts, Pype Hayes, Erdington
- The Keep, Darlaston
- The Pastures, Telford

Anita Williams, sales and marketing director for Persimmon Homes West Midlands, said: “We understand that many potential buyers are very keen to get a foothold on the property ladder which is why we’ve taken decisive action to help those who are unable to buy without assistance.

“We are convinced that with confidence returning to the new homes market, with interest rates at an all time historic level along with practical schemes such as HomeBuy Direct, house hunters will realise that there has never been a better time to purchase a new home.

“The HomeBuy Direct scheme is a boost for the housing sector and is sure to come as welcome news amongst West Midlands’ house hunters.

“The message is clear, if 2009 is the year you’re determined to get onto the property ladder, you need to talk to Persimmon. We have the largest allocation at around 20 per cent of the available HomeBuy Direct sites which means we offer more choice, are more accessible and are able to offer the widest possible range of new homes to our customers.”
