Black Country development is booming

21st May 2009 Print
Black Country development is booming The latest housing market survey released by the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) highlighted house sales edged up last month with new buyer enquiries also rising to the highest figure for almost a decade - a view that is being echoed by Wolverhampton-based Persimmon Homes.

Performing particularly well is The Keep on Stafford Road in Darlaston and the success is being attributed to the recently-launched, Government-supported, HomeBuy Direct scheme.

Just a few weeks since Persimmon Homes released its collection of HomeBuy Direct properties, the Wolverhampton-based housebuilder has been inundated with new buyer enquiries from potential purchasers who want to get on to the property ladder who see The Keep as the best route to help them on their way to home ownership.

With HomeBuy Direct, those who currently do not own their own home in the West Midlands are now able to secure a brand new property at 70 per cent of its market value.

Aimed to put households with incomes below £60,000 in a position where they can afford to purchase on the open market, househunters are only be required to raise funding for 70 per cent of the purchase price including a mortgage plus any deposit. The remaining 30 per cent is made up by an equity loan which is co-funded by the Government and Persimmon Homes.

Louise Brookes, sales adviser at The Keep, isn’t surprised with the level of interest the development is generating. She comments: “With HomeBuy Direct, properties at The Keep are currently priced from just £94,500, which is why it comes as no surprise house hunters realise that there has never been a better time to buy.

“Combine these obvious financial benefits with the advantages of living at a development where Wolverhampton can be reached in around 15 minutes, Birmingham in less than an hour, there’s quick and easy access to the Black Country Route and the regions’ road and motorway network and you’ll see why the development is proving so popular.”

Further details on the HomeBuy Direct scheme can be found at persimmonhomes.com.

Situated on Stafford Road in the heart of the Black Country, The Keep comprises 70 homes with something for everyone; buyers can currently snap up three and four bedroom family homes at exceptional prices. The development is within easy reach of Wolverhampton City centre and having the M6 within easy distance, is an ideal location for commuting.
