New names for new homes in Perry Common Pupils at three schools in Perry Common have recently named three roads for housebuilder Barratt West Midlands’ new Dovedale Park development on Dovedale Road.

The pupils from Perry Common Junior and Infant School, Wilson Stuart School and St Margaret Mary Roman Catholic School were asked to come up with a new name for some of the roads at the development. After much deliberation, a winner from each school was chosen, and three new road names were born.

Hajara Bibi aged 11 from Wilson Stuart School suggested Guillemot Grove, Elliot Mills (age 8) from St Margaret Mary Catholic created Little Owl Close, whilst a team effort was had from the children at Perry Common Junior who came up with Flamingo Gardens.

Graydon Worthing, Sales Director for Barratt West Midlands commented, “Perry Common is a key area for us and we have been involved in its rejuvenation for a number of years with our Bexley Park and Somerton Court developments.

“Because of this we were very keen to involve the community with the new homes at Dovedale Park which are due to launch soon. This competition was not only fun for the children and got their creativity flowing but also gave them an input to the development.

“The children suggested some superb road names and making a decision was tough. However I am pleased to announce the winners and I’m sure that the whole community will be delighted with these names.”

Spearheaded by the Witton Lodge Community association, Perry Common is currently undergoing major rejuvenation and Barratt’s new home developments have quickly become an integral part in developing the neighbourhood into a thriving community. Dovedale Park will offer a selection of new homes from two-bedroom apartments to two- three- and four-bedroom houses.
