Good start for new girl on the block at Skyline

Good start for new girl on the block at Skyline Experienced Barratt West Midlands Sales Negotiators, Nicola Watton and Carla McGillivary, have made their mark at the housebuilder’s Skyline development, with 12 sales since its re-launch in mid-April.

Nicola and Carla have worked for the company for five years between them, but since their introduction in April to the Birmingham development on the corner of Granville Street and Bath Row, they have made their friendly, approachable technique and knowledge of how to help people purchase the property of their dreams really count.

Nicola said, “When people visit Skliyne I show them around the development and pinpoint properties which are ideal for their needs and budget. But obviously with the deals we offer many people are pleasantly surprised by what they can actually afford.

“I usually have an informal chat to them about the buying process, going through what their expectations are and I then refer them to our mortgage brokers.”

Carla said, “The challenge is to get from the point of reservation to completion and a final move as smoothly as possible. My job is to make sure it seems easy to the buyers and to help them get over the hurdles in a stress free and painless way to ensure they have a great buying experience.”

Skyline is offering one-bedroom apartments from £94,950 and two-bedroom apartments from £133,000. Under Barratt’s Dream Start scheme however, homehunters can purchase 100 per cent of the home for 75 per cent of the price, meaning they can be bought for as little as £71,212 and £99,750 respectively. Barratt then covers the remaining 25 per cent with an interest free 10 year deferred loan.

Carla added, “Recently, we have had a lot of enquiries from people who rent an apartment at Skyline who are looking to buy – it is so affordable that for many of them it makes a lot of sense as they are putting their money into bricks and mortar instead of throwing it down the drain. It has also proved popular with people buying to let as the rental income is good and parents have also bought here for their student sons and daughters who go to one of the city’s universities.”

Graydon Worthing, Sales Director for Barratt West Midlands, said, “These sales show that people are out in force looking to purchase a slice of city centre living if it is at the right price.

“Our one- and two-bedroom apartments at Skyline are very competitively priced for the city centre, especially as they are situated just two minutes away from the Mailbox with its high-end restaurants and shopping. The development also looks over the Peace Gardens, which makes it a hugely attractive prospect with plenty of tranquil green space to relax in.

“I would urge anyone looking to purchase a city centre property to take a look at Skyline. Even without Dream Start it is hugely affordable, but using the scheme, first-time buyers and people on a lower income will find they are able to make their dream of home ownership a reality.”

Skyline is open from 10am to 5pm daily, until 8pm one Thursday in every month and from 9am on Saturdays, with fresh orange juice, pain au chocolat and a Birmingham Post on offer for morning visitors on the day. For further information, log on to Barratthomes.co.uk/skyline.
