New Barratt development to open in Perry Common

14th July 2009 Print
House builder Barratt West Midlands has begun build work on a selection of brand new homes in Perry Common which will be unveiled to the public on Saturday 18th and Sunday 19th July.

This new development which is to be called Dovedale Park is situated on Dovedale Road and is the latest project from the firm, adding to its already extensive portfolio of homes in the West Midlands.

This is the third development of new homes from Barratt West Midlands to be built in Perry Common and forms part of the ongoing regeneration of the area. Once complete, there will be a selection of two-bedroom apartments and two-, three- and four-bedroom houses.

Graydon Worthing, Sales Director for Barratt West Midlands explained, “Perry Common is a very important area to us and we have been building here for a number of years with our previous Bexley Park and Somerton Court developments.

“Both of these developments were extremely popular with local homebuyers and the homes were sold incredibly quickly. Therefore, it is very exciting for us to be able to offer purchasers another opportunity to buy one of our homes at this brand new development in Perry Common.”

The pre-launch is to be held this Saturday 18th and Sunday 19th July at Barratt West Midlands’ Kensington Gardens development on Spring Road in Tyseley where visitors will have the chance to view plans for these new homes. Potential purchasers will also be able to view the two-bedroom, Bromwich style showhome at Kensington Gardens which is just one of the many home styles available to buy at Dovedale Park.

As part of the official pre-launch, interested purchasers will also be able to find out more about a brand new joint Government and Barratt scheme which is aimed to get first-time buyers onto the property ladder.

The scheme, known as the First Time Buyer initiative (FTBi) means that eligible purchasers could receive up to a 50 per cent equity loan off the value of their new home.

Olwen Ryan at Orbit Housing Group, will be available to talk interested purchasers through the FTBi scheme. Olwen commented, “This particular initiative is one of the best I have come across because of its flexibility and the fact that it makes buying a first home so affordable. The purchasers are assessed on individual incomes, so we can ensure they receive exactly what help they need with buying a home.

“This isn’t a shared equity scheme, homebuyers own 100 per cent of the property from day one, which is a real draw for many people and I’m looking forward to offering visitors an affordable way to get onto the property ladder this weekend.”

Also present at the weekend will be an Independent Mortgage Advisor who will be able to advise visitors on any aspect of mortgages. John Wakefield, partner at New Homes Mortgage Service said, “As we are an independent firm we can research the market place to ensure our clients are getting the best deal for their circumstances. Even in today’s market, mortgages are freely available, as long as you know which lender to approach and we are not limited in our advice to only a certain range of mortgages, unlike the banks and building societies.

“At the open weekend, we can provide guidance as to the amount of mortgage a client can obtain, compare the difference in fees charged by the lenders and provide any quotations the clients want. We can also answer any questions about the house buying process and if a client does reserve on the day we can make an appointment to see them at their convenience, including evenings so they don’t have to have time off work, in order to provide a full recommendation as to which lender best suits their needs.”

Graydon continued, “These new homes will suit a range of purchasers, from first-time buyers to families and it is this, along with its ideal location which will, I’m sure, make Dovedale Park just as popular as our other developments.”
