Wolverhampton residents host a ‘Big Lunch’ A newly formed residents association is inviting locals to come and enjoy a cultural street party on Sunday 19th July – as part of the national Big Lunch celebrations.

St Peter’s Walk Residents Association is made up of new home owners on the development of the same name by George Wimpey West Midlands, which is a timely regeneration of the old Chubb Works site on Wednesfield Road. The Big Lunch is an initiative designed to bring local communities together and put a smile back on the face of Britain – and the residents are inviting everybody in the locality to come together and share some food and drink between 11am and 4pm.

Brian Chindendere of St Peter’s Walk Residents Association explains: “It’s all about promoting community cohesion and different cultures and nationalities joining together and getting to know each other. We all have friends and family coming, plus a lot of other people in the near vicinity are joining in too – and the idea is that everyone brings food and drink that we can all share and enjoy together. Even the local police force are popping in and bringing some refreshments.

“It’ll be a fun occasion too with a DJ playing a variety of music genres throughout the day and party games for both adults and children. There’s a magic show, a balloon magician, sumo suit wrestling, Gladiator-style dueling, face painting and the Step Up School of Dance from Wednesfield will be doing demonstrations ranging from cool hip hop to exotic belly dancing.”

The event is being sponsored by housebuilder George Wimpey West Midlands (in conjunction with Ashram Housing Association) and sales & marketing director, Carol Edwards, says: “We pride ourselves on investing in the new communities we build, from creating public open spaces and play areas to ensuring thoughtful layout and design of our developments, plus sponsoring local groups and clubs. We love the idea of the Big Lunch bringing the good people of Wolverhampton together, so why not come down to the marquee on the massive St Peter’s Walk front lawn, enjoy some good food and drink, plus some fun entertainment, meet your prospective neighbours and see the last few designer apartments remaining.”

St Peter’s Walk is transforming the Springfield area and is made up of 130 characterful mews style homes, contemporary three storey properties, spacious, family homes and designer apartments – a mixed development that has something for everyone! It reflects the Government’s call for a successful combination of design-led housing, less reliance on the motor car and design that reflects the local vernacular.

And it’s based around the striking central ‘homezone’ concept popular in Europe, with affordable dwellings surrounding and overlooking a large, central area of public open space. These developments combine the modern benefits of city living with the social space usually associated with villages. Last availability is made up of just five, two-bedroom ‘Rowan’ apartments with allocated parking from just £74.995.
