Barratt gives school fayre a helping hand

Barratt gives school fayre a helping hand Leading housebuilder Barratt West Midlands has recently given a helping hand to the children at a local primary school in West Heath, to fund its new playground equipment.

St John Fisher Primary School, which is situated close to Barratt’s Westminster Place development on Alvechurch Road, was in desperate need of some new Key Stage 2 playground equipment after the current playground was described as ‘sad’ by the children.

In order to raise the much needed cash, pupils and teachers organised a Summer Fayre and Barratt West Midlands donated Argos vouchers as part of the school’s ‘lucky envelope’ stall.

Tracey Robinson, Chair of St John Fisher, Parents and Friends Association (PFA) commented, “Without the support of local companies like Barratt Homes, the fundraising that the PFA undertake would be very minimal. The fact that companies donate prizes for use of the fete makes all the difference. We are currently trying to raise funds to improve the school playground generally, but particularly for KS2. We have set a target of £5000 for an adventure playground and we hope to raise enough money to have the equipment installed before the Autumn term.”

Graydon Worthing, Sales Director for Barratt West Midlands said, “It is extremely important for us to support and build links with the local communities and events like this are the ideal opportunity for us to give something back.

“Not only does the school playground offer a fun place for children to play at break times, but also provides facilities for an ongoing learning experience throughout their school life. We were therefore, more than pleased to provide a prize for the Summer Fayre and help this worthy cause.”

Westminster Place offers a selection of three- and four-bedroom family homes, just a few minutes walk from St John Fisher Primary School. Prices at the development start from £153,600. For more information, log on to Barratthomes.co.uk/westminsterplace.
