Barratt auction raises money for Shelter

The silent auction, which was held in aid of Shelter, saw homebuyers and members of the public bidding on a range of stylish furniture and accessories from the development’s iconic pop art showhome which has recently been sold.
An array of pop art inspired pieces went under the hammer, from an ostrich console table to an egg pod chair and even a wonder woman costume. And as the gavel came down, the sealed bids were collected and a total of £600 has been raised for shelter.
Graydon Worthing, Sales Director for Barratt West Midlands commented, “As one of the nation’s leading housebuilder’s, we understand the importance of people having four walls and a roof over their heads and therefore, this auction was a fantastic way to raise some much needed funds for Shelter which is such a worthy cause.
“From residents and staff to members of the public, the auction saw a range of people digging deep and making some wonderful contributions to Shelter in exchange for some of these rare and iconic pieces.
“We are very pleased to have raised so much cash and are delighted to present shelter with £600 towards their ongoing fundraising efforts. I would like to thank everyone who took part for making this such a huge success.”
Louise Parkes, Shelter’s director of fundraising said: “As the financial crisis really starts to hit home, Shelter is seeing more and more people turning to us for help, but the more demand for our services the more funding we need.
“By taking part in Barratt’s charity auction, people were not only able to bag themselves a piece of iconic pop art, but also helped to raise vital funds for Shelter to help people to keep a roof over their head in these challenging times.”
