More options for Coventry home buyers

23rd September 2009 Print
Mum-of-three Jackie Potter has always preferred living in new homes, but when the opportunity arose to purchase a property off-plan at George Wimpey’s Bannerbrook Grange development in Coventry, she jumped at the chance to choose her own interior designs.

Moving from a three-bedroom townhouse in Kettering, Northants, with 20-year-old daughter, Kirsty, Jackie bought their new three-bedroom home at Bannerbrook Grange ‘on impulse’.

“We visited the development on May 1st this year just to have a look around, but by May 3rd we had bought a house!” she explains.

“We were looking for a new home close to Kenilworth, where Kirsty’s best friend lives, and closer to Reading where I’m based as National Corporate Events Manager for Guide Dogs for the Blind Association. Although we looked at other developments, we felt very strongly that the Wimpey homes were the nicest.

“It was strange buying a home that wasn’t built – the house we chose had exterior walls and we looked at the plans for the internal layout, but it did feel like a leap of faith.

“What it meant, though, was that unlike the other new homes I’ve owned in the past 10 years, we could choose everything from the carpets and kitchen design right through to the tiles in the downstairs loo!”

Jackie and Kirsty obviously have an eye for style, selecting a contemporary monochrome scheme for the kitchen/breakfast room, the lounge and up the stairs to the master bedroom with en-suite, and the second and third bedrooms, where they have added warmth with lighter woods and tasteful mink tones.

“We’re thrilled with being able to choose our interior designs, and we have received some lovely compliments on our choices,” adds Jackie. “When Kirsty decides to get a place of her own in five or so years’ time I will probably look for somewhere a bit smaller, and so we went for a scheme that won’t date.

Green-fingered Jackie is also delighted with the garden: “It was turfed ready for when we moved in, with fencing, a garden wall – and a tree which has a long botanical name, so we have named it ‘Kevin’!”

With their old home having sold within hours of going on the market, Jackie and Kirsty made a hassle-free move, assisted by David, one of Jackie’s two sons, and who is ‘very handy with a screwdriver’.

“We have been very impressed with the service we received from George Wimpey,” adds Jackie. “The girls in the Sales Centre have gone the extra mile to make sure everything worked out well for us and the after-sales care is excellent.”

Customers can choose from a range of properties available to reserve off-plan at Bannerbrook Grange, including the two-bedroom ‘Chepstow’ apartments priced from £124,995, the three-bedroom ‘Woodville’ townhouse with a magnificent en-suite master bedroom occupying the entire top floor and priced from only £189,995, and the spacious four-bedroom ‘Damar’ and ‘Tewkesbury’ homes from £194,995.

A fabulous ‘Limited Editions’ interior design package is also now available at the development, for those reserving their home off-plan.
