Top award for top men at Redrow

Ian, who earned the award for his work at apartment venture Porterhouse in Crawley, says: “I’m very proud to receive this award and it’s testament not only to my hard work but also that of my team in Crawley – the standards for the NHBC are very high so it’s a great honour to have been recognised for reaching them.”
Dan, site manager at Kennet Heath in Thatcham, adds: “It’s great to be recognised for the work I’ve put in and it makes me very proud. I’m also very grateful to everyone on site who has helped make this possible.”
The Pride in the Job awards were set up in 1980 by the NHBC to reward the UK’s best site managers for building high quality homes and gives buyers a reassurance that they can expect top class homes.
Ian, who lives near Eastbourne, and Dan, from Fareham, were two of 400 award-winners picked from over 18,000 site managers who are automatically registered into the awards for demonstrating consistently good working practices, high quality management skills, and great motivational skills.
Both men now go forward to compete for a Seal of Excellence, which is presented to only 100 site managers. They will learn whether they have been successful at special lunches – Ian’s in Effingham on 28th September and Dan’s in Bournemouth on 26th October.
Fred Veevers, construction director for Redrow Homes (Southern) says: “I am extremely proud of Ian and Dan and their teams. To win the Quality award is a huge achievement and reflects the strong site management skills that both possess, along with their commitment and hard work.”
Ian, who has worked at Redrow for eight years, collected his award for his work at Porterhouse, a selection of one- and two-bedroom homes within walking distance of the Three Bridges train station.
He is now stationed at Farnborough Central, a major new development on land adjacent to Farnborough Business Park, which was once part of the former Royal Aircraft Establishment (RAE) headquarters. Redrow’s scheme will feature a total of 476 new homes, including the refurbishment and conversion into apartments of two existing buildings of historic interest.
Meanwhile Dan, currently site manager at Kennet Heath in Thatcham, has been with Redrow for two and a half years. Kennet Heath consists of a variety of two-, three-, four- and five-bedroom properties to suit the requirements of many different home buyers.
Redrow Homes (Southern) is part of Redrow plc, which builds around 5,000 new homes each year in England, Scotland and Wales. As well as the Kennet Heath, Farnborough Central and Porterhouse schemes, the Basingstoke based operation also has developments at Jennett’s Park, in Bracknell, in Eastbourne and Bexhill-on-Sea, in East Sussex, and Horsham, in West Sussex, while new homes are also planned for Hailsham, in East Sussex and Farnborough in Hampshire.
