Chichester MP Andrew Tyrie joined the Mayor and Mayoress of Chichester, Councilor Ray Brown and Mrs. Margaret Brown, together with hospital staff, The Friends of Chichester Hospitals and others to view the new site.

The team at Donald Wilson House, led by Dr Margaret Rice-Oxley, provides neurological rehabilitation predominantly for people under 65, working with patients who have a neurological illness or injury such as a head injury, meningitis or spinal cord injury.

Chris Edmondson, Managing Director of David Wilson Homes Southampton said, “The generation of both social and private homes on this surplus land has secured much needed additional funding as well as the provision of this new neurological rehabilitation unit, truly a win win situation.”

He went on to explain that the steel frame is now in place and that when complete, the building will create a light and airy internal setting.

Virtually all the materials used in the construction are of a sustainable nature and have a low maintenance requirement. Of particular note is the Cedum roof and solar powered hot water back up system.

Chris then invited the assembled guests to join him in viewing the site and looking around the steel framework of the new Donald Wilson House, which is due for completion in the first half of next year.
