A point of view at Horizon, Rustington

14th February 2008 Print
A point of view at Horizon, Rustington Stewart and Caroline Broughton, proud owners of the largest penthouse at Horizon, the new development by Berkeley Homes have two points of view. One, from the front of their magnificent three-bedroom apartment, is of the sea. The other, at the rear, is of the rolling South Downs.

Stewart and Caroline have other views as well. They took the view that they should downsize as their children had grown up and left home. Stewart was also happy to give up maintaining their large garden – something he had found a chore.

Having bought off-plan, they are now happily installed, and loving their new life style. Out has gone their old furniture, as they’ve chosen more modern pieces, to suit the art-deco flavour of the development.

The Broughtons are thrilled with the luxury, well-equipped kitchen, the two balconies, and the fact they now have two contemporary bathrooms. Stewart is particularly impressed by the large bathrooms, and by the underfloor heating throughout the penthouse, fed by a gas-fired hot water system. Life without stairs also has its appeal, as the penthouse covers around 1,500 sq ft, all on the one level.

Previously living some three miles away, the Broughtons came across Horizon by happy chance; they had set out to look at another development. Then they spotted the Horizon sales office and stopped to have a look around and they found the sales team very helpful. After being taken around the show apartment, they viewed the shell of Plot 15, the penthouse that was to become their new home.

They put their old house on the market the next day and set their hearts on buying their new home. Selling their old property proved to be no problem, and they kept the Horizon team abreast of progress.

“Berkeley Homes were very professional,” says Stewart. “You expect to have some snags with a new property, but everything was sorted out very quickly. Their response was superb. Buying off-plan can be tricky but Horizon has met all our expectations. It’s fantastic, and we’re very happy.”

The Broughtons, having lived nearby, know the area well. Stewart owns a car rental company in Worthing. He recognises the convenience and appeal of Horizon’s location. The beach is on the doorstep and Rustington’s shops, bars and restaurants are just a five minute walk away. There is an indoor swimming pool just down the road and an Esporta health club only a five minute drive away.

Golf, tennis, badminton, squash and bowls can all be found nearby within easy reach. Littlehampton offers great sailing, and the beautiful South Downs are ideal for horse riding, cycling and hiking.

Horizon, a striking Art Deco-style development of 29 two and three-bedroom apartments and penthouses, is set in beautifully landscaped and gated grounds, just 100 yards from the sea. Every apartment has an allocated parking space.

All of the apartments at Horizon benefit from either a large glass balcony or terrace, many with wonderful sea views from the living area. Some enjoy a double aspect that makes the most of light in the morning and afternoon sunshine. The apartments have been built to an exceptionally high specification with luxury features such as under-floor heating and a large walk-in shower in the en-suite bathroom, plus flooring throughout.

Prices at Horizon start from £250,000. Reservations made before 30th March 2008 will include one year’s free membership of the Rustington Esporta Health Club.
