Broaden your Horizon with Easymove

29th April 2008 Print
Broaden your Horizon with Easymove Gary and Miriam Fletcher were retired and living in a three-bedroom bungalow with a large garden at Southwater near Horsham in Sussex. They weren't looking to downsize or move yet but on a recent day trip to the coast they came across Horizon, a striking Art Deco development by Berkeley Homes of two and three-bedroom apartments and penthouses on the outskirts of Rustington village. Bowled over by what they saw, it was a case of ‘love at first sight', so they chose an apartment and decided to make the move.

In order to make the move as stress free as possible, Gary and Miriam used the Berkeley Easy Move scheme, which pays up to £5,000 towards estate agents' fees and removes much of the burden of selling one's own home. Berkeley arrange for valuations from local estate agents, agrees a realistic selling price, liaises with the estate agent and monitor progress once an offer is made.

Miriam is delighted with their new home: "We never thought we would move from Southwater," she says, but we loved this apartment so much we decided we had to make the move. I'm a keen gardener and I shall miss my garden, but it was huge, nearly three quarters of an acre, and I know I'm not going to be able to keep it in the state I would like for ever. At Horizon there is a lovely balcony for pot plants and I adore being so close to the sea. I'm looking forward to a different lifestyle and exploring somewhere new."

One of the attractions for both Gary and Miriam is the lovely village of Rustington, which has lots of shops. Should they be unable to drive, it is still only a ten minute walk away. They are also just a short drive from Miriam's sister, who lives in Goring and there is also so much to see and do in the nearby towns of Brighton, Chichester and Arundel.

Gary and Miriam first saw the apartment at Horizon at the beginning of September. They made their decision to move and their bungalow sold within six days of being out on the market, with Berkeley Homes paying £5,000 towards their estate agent's fees. The Berkeley sales staff were very helpful and contracts were exchanged at the end of October.

The Horizon development includes five individually themed apartments by leading home designers Alexander James Interiors which are ready to move into immediately. Prospective purchasers are able to select their favourite apartment or alternatively buy off plan and personalise their new home with ideas taken from the show homes.

Most of the homes at Horizon benefit from a large glass balcony or terrace, many providing wonderful sea views from the living area and some enjoy a double aspect that makes the most of light in the morning and afternoon sunshine. The apartments are being built to an exceptionally high specification with luxury features such as gas under-floor heating and a large walk-in shower to the en-suite bathroom.

Rustington is a village of great charm, a very friendly place with excellent shops and restaurants. The village won a Gold Award in the 2007 South & South East in Bloom Awards. The beautiful town of Arundel with its eleventh century castle and Littlehampton with its harbour and riverside development are a short drive away. Sailing and watersports, walking on the South Downs and the historic sights of Chichester are also on the doorstep.

Prices of homes at Horizon start from only £250,000 for a two-bedroom apartment. Three-bedroom fully furnished apartments are priced from £350,000 and the last remaining penthouse is priced at £415,000.
