Family picnic set cause a bang at The Orchard The 40th anniversary of the iconic film, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, will be celebrated in style with a summer picnic at Higgins Homes’ rural, family development, The Orchard in West Sussex. The picnic is being held on 16th August, between 11am and 4pm, when an exact replica of the famous, magical car, will be on show at the award winning development.

Local families are invited to view the new, contemporary houses, then picnic in the mature grounds and enter a draw to win a ride in the famous vehicle. This popular Sussex development is now 60% sold, so this event will not only give residents an opportunity to socialise with their neighbours, but it will also allow potential buyers to see the tightly knit community which is emerging.

Jeremy Marcus, Sales and Marketing Director, Higgins Homes, comments: “The summer picnic at The Orchard will be a fun way for families to enjoy the summer and also view one of the three stylish show homes. Ringden Farm, which is local to the area, will be supplying apple juice for the picnic, which is rather apt considering the development’s name! Chitty Chitty Bang Bang is always very popular, and with a lucky winner able to ride around in the famous car, it will certainly be a memorable day.”

The Orchard comprises 176 three and four bedroom houses situated in Ifield Avenue, less than two miles from Crawley town centre. The development, set within a rural location, combines gentle sloping roofs and traditional angular architecture, which is contrasted by the modern use of ruby red brick work, blocks of crisp white rendering or wooden cedar panelling and large contemporary windows or French doors.

Internally, each property is fitted with a stylish designer Urban Myth kitchen and Smeg appliances, which include a stainless steel oven, gas hob, integrated fridge/freezer, dishwasher and washer/dryer.

Crawley is the largest inland town in West Sussex and is also benefiting from a multi-million pound regeneration project. The regeneration will include a high profile department store, new restaurants, shops, bars and the general gentrification of the high street and transport systems, which could increase property values. Crawley train station has regular direct trains to London Victoria Station which take approximately 50 minutes*.

Prices at The Orchard start from £287,500 for a three bedroom house and from £349,950 for a four bedroom house. For further information, visit the website: Higginshomes.co.uk.
