In for the long haul at Saddlers in Billingshurst When first time buyer Philip Awcock purchased a two-bedroom home at Saddlers in Billingshurst by Barratt Southern Counties, he felt positive he had made a sound investment for the future.

"I think people have forgotten that homes are places to live, not just things to make a quick profit from. I am not worried about the current instability in the market, because I am planning to set down roots here at Saddlers and enjoy my new home for years to come," said Philip.

Although a studio or one-bedroom apartment might have been a less expensive option for 28 year-old Philip, who works as a food and beverage controller; he instead and chose a two-bedroom, terraced property, which will cater for any changes to his situation in the long-term.

"This way, if I choose to get married or maybe even start a family, I won't have to move house," said Philip, "the extra bedroom is very useful when friends come to stay. Although I probably could have saved some money by purchasing something smaller, Barratt offered me a fantastic opportunity which put a two-bedroom home within my reach. The offers meant that I received a brilliant £15,000 discount on the asking price of £226,000."

"I am pleased I bought a new, rather than second-hand, property, because I was given greater choice regarding the specification. And although some people might have been reluctant to move in before the development was completed, I have found it very convenient, because builders and the sales staff are still around to fix any little problems and answer any questions."

The development comprises 48 two, three and four-bedroom properties, with vernacular design, which belies the spacious, modern and individual interiors.

Within easy reach of scenic woodland walks, the picturesque River Arun, and the Wey and Arun Canal, Billingshurst is an appealing semi-rural location with convenient commuter connections. The town provides an excellent range of local services, including a convenience store, library, health centre, post office, optician and dental surgery. Alternative facilities are available in Horsham, which is approximately ten minutes from Billingshurst Station, and Crawley, which can be reached in under half an hour.

"My twin brother already lives in Billingshurst and I know the area well," said Philip, "It has changed a lot in the last five years, the community amenities have improved a great deal recently and it is really up-and-coming. And, because Billingshurst is close to the M23, my morning commute to Croydon is very convenient."

Rail passengers can reach Gatwick Airport, Arundel, Chichester, Croydon and Portsmouth Harbour with regular services from Billingshurst Station, while the south coast towns of Brighton, Chichester and Bognor Regis are easily accessible by both road and rail.

By offering an exceptional 100 per cent home exchange package and free removals, Barratt Southern Counties is providing help for all those who choose Saddlers to be their new home. Barratt will value buyers' existing homes and agree an acceptable sale price, then assume the responsibility of selling their home; Barratt will also organise and pay for the Home Information Pack (HIP), and arranging for the compulsory energy performance certificate.

The new Barratt Choices Centre in Guildford means that all Barratt Southern Counties' buyers will now be able to choose from an enormous range of state-of-the-art fixtures and fittings, everything from carpets to toothbrush holders, to change or upgrade their specification. Though more choices are available with off-plan properties that are still in the early stages of construction, even those buying homes that are nearly complete will be able to add some finishing touches. After browsing for inspiration, visitors can relax in the café with their families to make those all-important final decisions on colour and style.
