Peter finds a far better lifestyle at Clayton Mills

Peter finds a far better lifestyle at Clayton Mills When railway worker Peter Gibbons, 51, decided that he wanted to move from his one-bedroom house in Bletchingley to a more spacious home in a quieter location, he never dreamed that he'd be able to afford a property with more than two bedrooms.

He was therefore delighted when Barratt offered to take his old house in part-exchange towards a brand new three-bedroom home with a garden and garage at Clayton Mills in Hassocks, West Sussex.

Peter had first tried to move home in spring 2007, but struggled to sell his house. He waited another year and then heard about Clayton Mills from a friend. He comments: "I loved the development and the offer of part-exchange was too good to miss. Barratt sold my house for me, which saved a lot of money and hassle, and meant that I could afford a much bigger home in a better location - it was a fantastic opportunity."

Located close to Hassocks village and overlooking the South Downs, Clayton Mills is an attractive development of houses ranging from two to five bedrooms. With its own pond, play areas and network of footpaths, it has a warm village atmosphere. Peter says: "There's a great sense of community here. Everyone's very friendly and I've already got to know my neighbours very well."

Despite its rural location, Clayton Mills has great transport links, which is important to Peter who works shifts in his job as an Incident Controller for Network Rail. Peter comments: "I can walk to the station in approximately fifteen minutes and the trains run early in the morning and late at night, even on Sundays, so I never have to use my car for work." By train, London Victoria is only 52 minutes away and there are regular services to Brighton. Hassocks now also benefits from the extended Gatwick Express services, which stop at the station six times a day during peak hours.

Hassocks is just off the main A23 London-Brighton road, which makes it easy for Peter to visit his family and friends, who all live within a two-hour drive. With Brighton seven miles away, Gatwick Airport within 16 miles and Newhaven's ferry port only 12 miles away, everything Peter needs is within easy reach.

For day-to-day shopping, Peter can walk into Hassocks, where there is a good range of local shops. Alternatively, there is a large Tesco only three miles away at Burgess Hill.

The quieter environment at Clayton Mills particularly appeals to Peter, who is reassured that his pet cats are safe. "There aren't any major roads too close and the roads within the development have been designed to make people drive slowly, which makes it much safer for children and animals," he says.

Peter is enjoying the extra space in his new home, which has a separate sitting room and a dining/kitchen area with patio doors opening on to the garden. Peter comments: "My house is finished to a very high standard and has excellent design features like the fact that the ground floor doors are very wide and add to the sense of space." Upstairs, Peter's bedroom has an en suite bathroom, and there is a main bathroom for visiting friends and family.

By offering an exceptional 100 per cent home exchange package and free removals, Barratt is providing help for all those who choose Clayton Mills to be their new home. Barratt will value buyers' homes and agree an acceptable sale price, then assume the responsibility of selling their home; Barratt will also organise and pay for the Home Information Pack (HIP).

Barratt is holding a Part Exchange Weekend at Clayton Mills from 10 am to 5 pm on Saturday 24th and Sunday 25th January. There will be champagne and canapés for all prospective purchasers who come down for the chance to speak to one of Barratt's knowledgeable consultants.

Clayton Mills offers a very wide range of house types, priced from £243,995 for a two-bedroom home and ranging up to £629,995 for a five-bedroom house.
