Ten reasons buyers choose new homes

Ten reasons buyers choose new homes Why do so many people prefer to buy new rather than second-hand homes? At least ten reasons crop up regularly in buyer surveys, most highlighting the central fact that new homebuilders generally offer a range of benefits that the second-hand market cannot hope to match.

A perfect example is Clayton Mills, Hassocks by Barratt Southern Counties, where buyers can take advantage of a package of help including part exchange with free removals and free mortgage protection.

Barratt Southern Counties managing director Trevor Sawyer said: “Deals and assistance like this are just not available when buying second-hand homes because the vast majority of individual vendors and their estate agents are just not in a position to offer them.

“Very often, it is the help we can give with deposits or Stamp Duty, with discounts, part exchange and a whole raft of other benefits – these are what make the difference between people being able to buy and not being able to buy.”

So what exactly do buyers prefer about buying new? The most common reasons given by Barratt customers are:

• A pristine, untouched and perfect new home
• Fully-fitted, state-of-the-art kitchens and bathrooms
• Energy efficiency – new homes are green homes, built to the latest environmental standards and cheaper to run
• Choice of certain finishes and coverings
• Opportunities to view example properties in advance, repeatedly if required
• Opportunities to negotiate on price
• Wide range of no-strings help packages
• Customer service – friendly staff who help every step of the way
• Excellent locations
• Ten-year NHBC Warranty

Clayton Mills is located close to Hassocks village and overlooks the South Downs. With its own pond, play areas and a network of footpaths, it has a warm village atmosphere and offers a very wide range of house types. Prices start from £260,995 for a three-bedroom home and range up to £525,995 for a five-bedroom home.

There will be story-telling, balloon sculpting and face painting for all the family to enjoy as well the opportunity to enter a free prize draw for the chance to win a fantastic trip to Disneyland Paris.
