Now’s the time to buy in Maidenbower

The 23-year-old is one of George Wimpey’s local experts in Maidenbower, available to help house-hunters make those all-important decisions when it comes to choosing a new home – from location and property design through to financial, legal and mortgage advice.
“We’ve set up an ‘Ask the Experts’ panel for our newly launched Wentworth Place development in Maidenbower,” explains Amy, “and on Saturday 6th June we’ll be holding a special local ‘Ask the Experts’ day to help answering any questions those considering moving might have.
“It’s an opportunity for people to receive free, independent financial and mortgage advice, plus details on our new homes at Wentworth Place, the incentives we can offer to first-time buyers and those with a property to sell, and information on the local area, its history, and what the development will look like when it’s finished.”
Wentworth Place – which was named by Amy after former local landowner and British real tennis champion Lady Judith Wentworth – is under construction by leading housebuilder George Wimpey South West Thames, offers a unique opportunity to own one of the last brand new homes to be built in Maidenbower.
Amy, who is Options Manager for George Wimpey South West Thames, grew up in the first new street to be built in Maidenbower – Georgian Close – and her mum, Geraldine, still lives there now.
Explains Amy: “George Wimpey started to build the first new homes in Maidenbower back in 1991, and so it’s only fitting that they should return now to construct the village’s final new streets.
“As one of only 13 pupils who attended Maidenbower First School when it opened, we were featured on BBC Newsround, and since then I’ve seen the area grow into a remarkable, friendly, bustling place which retains much of its village appeal and has a pub and a big park with tennis courts at its heart. It’s a self-contained community – everything for everyday life can be reached on foot.
“In fact, there are a great many lovely walks through Maidenbower and you can follow the stream over little bridges and past the resident ducks, stroll to Tilgate golf club and nature centre where there are animals to pet and plenty of activities for families, or cycle the Worth Way, which is the route of the old railway line.
“I’m now buying my first home in Maidenbower with my fiancé, Richard because it’s the place we would like to bring up a family. It has everything we need – shops and a gym, healthcare and schools from nursery through to secondary all within walking distance, and for those like myself who commute to work, Junction 10a of the M23 is just a couple of minutes’ drive away.
“Maidenbower has great appeal for all ages, and our new homes mean people can stay in an area they already know and love. Wentworth Place has been designed to offer homes for first-time buyers, like myself, who have grown up in Maidenbower, and for growing families looking for a place with more space.”
The development comprises a fresh and stylish collection of just over 100 homes between Lucerne Drive and Balcombe Road, including two-bedroom apartments which have just been released for sale and are priced from only £169,995, plus three, four and six-bedroom homes.
Homes blend traditional and modern architectural influences including pretty balconies, dormer windows and gables, welcoming entrance porches and a contrast of buff brickwork, soft white render and pale blue weatherboarding.
Those coming along to the ‘Ask the Experts’ day on Saturday 6th June can talk to Amy about the local area and the final new homes to be built in Maidenbower, while independent financial and mortgage advisors will be on hand.
Visitors can also discover George Wimpey’s great range of incentives for its customers, including the Easymover scheme, which offers current home-owners the opportunity to reserve their brand new home while the house-builder finds a buyer for their existing property and pays the stamp duty and estate agent’s fees.
First-time buyers can receive 5% of the purchase price towards their deposit, and assistance with legal fees.
Ahead of the opening of the Sales Centre at Wentworth Place, the ‘Ask the Experts’ event will be held at the nearby Stone Court development by George Wimpey’s sister company, Bryant Homes, and located on Balcombe Road, Crawley, RH10 7RX. The experts will be there on Saturday 6th June between 9.30am and 5pm.
