Redrow (Eastern) Managing Director George Cronin meets Andrew and Emma, the first buyers to make a reservation at The Lakes. (NB – Surnames cannot be supplied as per the couple’s wishes.) Stunning waterside houses in Heybridge, near Maldon have been launched in style at Redrow’s latest Essex housing venture, The Lakes. Visitors to the opening, which was held at Hythe Quay, came in their dozens to speak to Redrow staff and look at brochures and specifications of the development.

The highlight of the day was a spectacular display by the Dark Horse Morris dancers.

The development truly is one of a kind, due to its tranquil, natural surroundings, bordered by Heybridge Lake, the Chelmer and Blackwater Navigation canal and the Black Water estuary.

Beryl Williams, area sales manager for Redrow Homes (Eastern) says: “The launch was fantastic – it lived up to our expectations and did the development justice. We were treated with good weather conditions and there was a fantastic turn out of potential buyers. There has been a lot of interest in the properties here, which is no surprise, and getting our first few reservations was really exciting.”

Construction has begun on the 15-acre venture, which will have 124 homes and is perfect for buyers looking for stylish three, four and five-bedroom homes in a desirable area. Properties range from two storey terraces to large detached homes and include the popular and versatile three storey variety.

The four-bedroom detached Tamar is among the properties now on release and comes with a detached single garage, en-suite shower room to master bedroom, family bathroom, separate dining area, kitchen, lounge, utility room, understairs storage and cloakroom. Prices start at £380,995.

Meanwhile the five-bedroom Webburn boasts all of the Tamar’s features, but additionally has a family room and extra shower room. This home boasts three storeys, with the top floor dedicated to two bedrooms and the second shower room. This is a great versatile area which can be used for anything from giving teenagers or an elderly relative their own space to more unconventional uses such as a yoga room. Prices start from £475,995.

Other homes in the first release include the four-bedroom Morton. Prices begin at £295,995.

The development boasts beautiful views of the River Blackwater and is a short distance away from the picturesque Heybridge Basin, which offers walks along the seawall back into Heybridge. It is also close to the historic town of Maldon, which is one of the oldest recorded towns in Britain; and is opposite Maldon’s Promenade Park, with its many acres of open space and children’s play areas.

In Heybridge itself there is a shopping complex, restaurants, supermarkets, pubs, and other local amenities and is a popular holiday destination for many people.

Heybridge is approximately 30 minutes outside of Chelmsford, while London Liverpool Street can be reached by direct rail link from nearby Chelmsford or Witham station in around 40 minutes.
