Redrow held a fantastic charity dinner in aid of Headway Essex a registered charity which provides care and support to those living with an acquired brain injury and their families.

With the help of donations from other local businesses, an exceptionally generous auction featuring football memorabilia from top premiership clubs including Chelsea, Manchester United, Newcastle United and West Ham, plus a raffle, the evening raised over £20,000 to help Headway continue with its much-needed work.

George Cronin, managing director of Basildon-based Redrow Homes (Eastern), says: “We are an Essex-based business, have built a number of developments in the county and we have recently launched new ventures in Colchester and in Heybridge, near Maldon. Far from being just a house builder, we strive to create new communities and enhance the ones in which we build and supporting local charities is part of this process.

“A family member of one of our staff has benefited from the work that Headway does within the community, which is why we chose them to be our worthy benefactors.”

Based in Colchester, Headway Essex has been providing essential support and care to those who have been affected by brain injury for the past 21years. Their support helps many people resume something of their old life and helps them to rebuild the skills that have been lost as a result of their brain injury, through a series of activities including a day care centre and brain injury advisory service which currently offers support and advice to over 250 families throughout the county

Mary Beverley, fundraising officer for Headway, says: “The charity dinner was a really touching tribute to the hard work and commitment that Headway has given to the community over the last two decades. The £20,000 raised is an incredible amount of money and will go a long way to helping us continue our services and also to purchase a new mini bus, which will help us greatly in offering necessary transportation for our attendees.

“We are really grateful to Redrow for the hugely generous contribution to our cause and would like to thank everyone who attended the charity dinner for their kindness and fantastic generosity.”

Redrow’s Basildon-based Eastern operation currently has a number of developments including at Ashford and Sittingbourne, in Kent, Kesgrave and Bury St. Edmunds, in Suffolk, and Hitchin, Herts, as well as the new venture of 124 homes in Heybridge and 259 new homes at The Myle, in Colchester.
