Redrow insures cabbie outing is a special success

Heybridge, near Maldon, is home to Redrow’s “The Lakes” housing development, plays host to the entourage of cabbies and children each year.
The children, whose needs range from severely disabled, downs syndrome, autistic and severe learning difficulties, are collected from various pick up points across London and are given meals, entertainment, spending money, toys and goodie bags, during the trip.
They enjoy an activity packed day at Maldon’s Promenade Park involving face painting, clowns, juggling shows, horse riding and the best dressed taxi award.
The charity relies heavily on donations to fund the outing. Samantha White of the East London Cabbies Outing says: “We are so grateful for Redrow’s generous donation as insuring the trip is an escalating cost. It really is a worthy cause as each year it brings a smile to the children’s faces and makes them so happy.”
Beryl Williams, area sales manager for Redrow Homes (Eastern), says: “Redrow Homes are extremely proud to support such a rewarding charity. We take our community commitments very seriously and are more than happy to help put a smile on children’s faces, who have already faced so many challenges.”
The Lakes, by Redrow, in nearby Heybridge, is a plush development of three, four and five-bedroom luxury homes in a beautiful setting, with breathtaking views of the Blackwater Estuary.
The first East London Cabbie outing was set up in 1952 by Charles Albert Flemwell, and began with only eight taxis but it has continued to grow and some years, more than 160 vehicles have taken part.
