A taste of fine living in Chelmsford

4th October 2007 Print
A taste of fine living in Chelmsford As a wine merchant, George Smith is quick to appreciate the finer things in life. So when he decided to buy himself a new home ‘on a whim’ as a late Christmas present, it was no surprise that he chose an apartment at Barratt Eastern Counties’ superb 53 Park Central development in the heart of Chelmsford.

53 Park Central has raised the bar for the standard of new homes in Chelmsford. The wonderfully light and spacious apartments are designed to an exceptionally high specification and residents enjoy a host of extra features including their own beautifully landscaped roof garden; a large light-filled open ‘atrium’ where they can meet friends and relax; underground parking; a concierge service and even a free exclusive fitness centre. The apartments are arranged in a crescent, above shops, or in The Tower, an impressive twelve-storey building and the tallest in Chelmsford.

George had been sharing a three-bedroom house in Chelmsford, but when his flatmate decided to get married, it was clearly time to move on and enjoy his bachelor lifestyle. He had bought a Barratt apartment some years ago and decided that the company’s latest development at 53 Park Central would be well worth a look. “Although I was really impressed by the development, I feared that the apartments would be completely out of my price range,” George says. “But the sales negotiators were really helpful and I was delighted to find that the apartment was affordable, especially as I was buying off-plan.” George reserved his home early in the new year and moved in just a few months later.

George has bought the largest two-bedroom apartment in The Crescent at 53 Park Central. “It’s absolutely perfect for my lifestyle,” he comments. “My apartment is open plan, with plenty of space for entertaining, and being brand new it’s very easy to look after.” George’s smart fitted kitchen is very well equipped, including an oven, microwave, washer/dryer, fridge/freezer and dishwasher, in fact every convenience a bachelor needs. With a spare bedroom and a second bathroom, in addition to his en-suite bathroom, having friends to stay is easy.

53 Park Central is in a fantastic location, very close to the town centre, “The shops, restaurants and bars are just a short walk away from my apartment, so it’s very handy indeed,” explains George. To make life even simpler, there is a range of shops in front of the development, including a Tesco Express for instant food shopping.

George drives to his work in Basildon, around half an hour away. But if he needs to travel to London, for business or pleasure, it couldn’t be easier: the railway station is virtually next door to 53 Park Central and can whisk him into London’s Liverpool Street in just 35 minutes! At weekends he often visits his parents in the Sussex countryside, giving him the ideal combination of town and country living.

Prices of apartments at 53 Park Central start from just £229,995 for a one-bedroom apartment and from £267,000 for a two-bedroom apartment. To help first time buyers, Barratt is offering to pay their 5% deposit.

All the apartments in The Crescent have now been sold and the homes recently released for sale in The Tower are selling swiftly. There are two new show homes available to view at 53 Park Central. A new marketing suite has recently opened on the development and a new show apartment is due to open within the next few weeks.
