‘Thurn-tastic’ homes in Colchester

Myle housetype For a large family home or the perfect pad for friends to share, Redrow’s The Myle in Colchester has a great selection of stylish ‘Thurn’ homes on offer.

The Myle is located on Mill Road and in a prime location for commuters, with its easy access to the A12, which leads directly to the capital by car in around 90 minutes; while rail links from nearby Colchester North Station provide access to Ipswich in less than 20 minutes and to London Liverpool Street in about an hour.

The Thurn homes showcase life over three floors and, with four bedrooms, they are proving popular with those who want the versatility of having that extra space – for anything from a guest room, to storage space, to a home gym.

The Thurn is also a great choice for friends sharing. The three storeys plus two en-suites and one large bathroom means that everyone will have their own space and privacy, with no queues for the loo!

Beryl Williams, area sales manager for Redrow Homes (Eastern) says: “While most first time buyers or friends buying a home together will think of a flat, a larger home like the Thurn is actually perfect. You get much more room for your money which means that everyone will be able to enjoy their own space.

“With a family room as well as the kitchen and dining area on the first floor, buyers will have more than enough room to cook and eat together. Gone are the days when sharing with your friends meant a cramped terraced home with only one bathroom – buyers can now enjoy each other’s company in much more stylish surroundings.”

Thanks to its three storeys, the Thurn mixes up the layout of a conventional home. The ground floor is home to the kitchen with dining area, family room, cloakroom and storage cupboard, while the lounge and master bedroom with en-suite shower room can be found on the first floor. Up on the second floor are the further three bedrooms, one with en-suite shower room, and family bathroom.

Beryl continues: “We are also offering part exchange on the Thurns, meaning that the buyer doesn’t have to worry about selling their old home or getting stuck in a chain, so they can get on with the more interesting and enjoyable aspects of moving.”

Buyers who like what they read will be wowed by the fully dressed Thurn show home, which offers a scrumptious look into how life at The Myle can be lived. A delicious mix of lemon and chocolate colours creates a warm atmosphere, teamed with light and airy fresh cream to highlight the modern design of the home. The lavish style is complemented with oak finished furniture.

For die-hard Colchester United fans, the show home has its own United-themed bedroom, while the less sporty will love the butterfly-themed bedroom, featuring strong images of the colourful creatures on cushions, curtains and the bed spread – perfect for a little girl.

Beryl adds: “Since the opening of the show home, the popularity of the Thurn homes keeps growing and growing, as buyers have seen how versatile and spacious they are. As testament to this, we currently only have three of these homes left, plus the show home.”

Prices for a Thurn at The Myle start at £275,995. There are also a selection of two-bedroom Lark homes, from £169,995, two-bedroom Calders from £177,995 and four-bedroom Neale homes from £255,995. One and two-bedroom apartments are also available from £139,995.

The Myle benefits from being close to the centre of Colchester, which lays claim to being the country’s oldest recorded town, which is reflected in its quaint, old fashioned architecture. The town boasts museums, a zoo, cinema, theatre, art galleries and many shops.
