A whole lot of house in Colchester

17th January 2008 Print
A whole lot of house in Colchester Imagine a fantastic family home, just an hour by train from central London, with four bedrooms (one en-suite), a fabulous first floor lounge with Juliet balcony, a separate dining room, fully fitted breakfast kitchen, under-stairs storage, ground floor cloakroom/wc and a car port – all from just £255,995.

That’s what home buyers can get with the Neale at Redrow’s The Myle in Colchester, Essex. This four-bedroom, three-storey townhouse packs a whole lot of living space into its neat exterior.

In fact it’s houses like these that brought some interesting results in a recent survey of Redrow’s customers to see what they liked best about three-storey living.

Among the highlights were the increased level of privacy offered by a first floor living room and the opportunity for home owners to be creative and flexible with their internal layout. The extra stairs in this type of property also have an added bonus – with several owners saying they helped keep them fit!

Those who have bought a three-storey home from Redrow have used their extra floor space in various ways. Many have been able to give teenagers and older children their own space and independence, which can be difficult to do in the traditional two-storey home. And people who work from home have also benefited, as a home office can be tucked away on the top floor, separating ‘home’ and ‘work’ lives.

The majority also believe that three-storey buyers get more for their money.

Beryl Williams, area sales manager for Redrow Homes (Eastern) says:
“The versatility of three–storey living and the value for money factor are clearly visible in the Neale house types available at the Myle. By going upwards instead of outwards, we have made maximum use of the land on which they’re built.

“It’s a design that can appeal to lots of different people, thanks to its versatility. For families, mum and dad can have their own space on the first floor while the children take over the floor above; those with no children living at home can keep the top floor for visiting family and friends or use spare rooms as a home office, gym or hobbies room. Three-storey living is also a great option for friends sharing a mortgage to get on the property ladder as it gives them plenty of space and privacy.”

If all that space isn’t enough to convince home buyers, then Redrow’s superb range of incentives might just do the trick, including a promise to protect the value of their new home for up to three years. House Price Protection* is one of a number of choices under the badge of ‘re:assure from Redrow’, with all of the measures designed to make owning a home easier to achieve. Other options might include part-exchange on selected plots or £500 per month towards their mortgage for up to two years.

The location of The Myle is good for commuters as the development has easy access to the A12, which leads directly to London in around an hour-and-a-half or Stansted airport in around 45 minutes. Rail links from nearby Colchester North Station provide access to Ipswich in less than 20 minutes and to London Liverpool Street in about an hour. The development is also situated on a main bus route.
