MP praises innovative iPads in Colchester Bob Russell, MP for Colchester, and local councillors gathered recently to mark the launch of the first iPads at Colne View, the new development by Barratt Eastern Counties in Colchester.

Barratt is building 69 iPads at Colne View – the first iPads in Essex. Guests were invited to view the show home to see for themselves that good design doesn’t have to come at a high price.

Keith Parrett, managing director of Barratt Eastern Counties, comments:

“Our new iPads are an excellent example of how Barratt is making high quality new homes available to more people. iPads are priced at just £119,995, yet they are contemporary, innovative and use space brilliantly.”

Bob Russell, MP for Colchester, adds: “I think the iPad is a wonderful concept that will appeal to a particular sector of the market, both single people and couples. The apartment is very well designed with no waste of space and is deceptively roomy.”

Barratt’s brief in creating the iPad was to create a home that is “functional, ergonomic and manageable” by using innovative design. Although an iPad is compact, every inch of space is used to maximise efficiency. It has a proper bedroom and bathroom, and space is cleverly channelled into the most critical living areas.

The open-plan living/dining area incorporates a kitchen with an oven, hob, integrated washer/drier and fridge/freezer. French doors open from the living area on to a balcony or terrace.

iPads were originally designed with first time buyers in mind, but their appeal has proved to be much wider. They are ideal for the growing number of people of all ages who live alone, and for parents looking for a low cost home for their student children. This is particularly relevant at Colne View, which is next door to the University of Essex. First time investors benefit from both the low price of an iPad and a ready-made market of students seeking a home close to the university.

Colne View offers a great life style. It is located in a riverside setting, just a few miles from Colchester town centre. Residents enjoy their own free exclusive membership of ‘Energise’, the development’s private gym, and there are shops literally on the doorstep. The regeneration of Hythe is transforming the area and transport links are excellent. For commuters, it is just 50 minutes by train to London’s Liverpool Street.

Prices of iPads at Colne View start from just £119,995 and Barratt is offering to help first-time buyers with their deposit.
