Barratt wins Considerate Constructor Award

Barratt North London was recently presented with an award at the national Considerate Constructors Scheme 2008 Awards in recognition of the high standards it maintains at Fifth Avenue in Harlow.

Some 2500 guests attended a series of nine award ceremonies in London. Of the 6500 eligible sites around the UK, only 472 were selected for an award and just 7.4 per cent of these went to private housebuilders.

Glyn Hopping, managing director of Barratt North London, says: "We were delighted to be recognised by the Considerate Constructor scheme. This is the second time we have received an award, our first being for a development in Harrow. We will continue to maintain best working practices at all our developments."

Ron Storer, vice president of the Federation of Master Builders presented the Bronze award to Iain Staines, site manager at Fifth Avenue. The judges' report stated:

“This clean and well-presented site created a very good public impression, while affording a safe and pleasant environment for the workforce and visitors alike. Environmental concern was high on the agenda, evidenced by sound waste management, the protection of large areas of shrubs and trees, the relocating of bat roosts on the site, and the crushing of demolition materials for reuse on the site. . . . . . Considerate practices included the daily cleaning of any dust or mud from the site entrance and adjacent roadways and 24-hour security to eliminate the need for alarms. This site was clearly committed to considerate construction and its professional image reflects well on the aims of the Considerate Constructors Scheme.”

Prices for homes currently available at Fifth Avenue start from £160,000 for a one-bedroom apartment, £200,000 for a two-bedroom apartment, £250,000 for a two bedroom house, £275,000 for a three-bedroom house and £365,000 for a four bedroom house.
