A ‘Head Start' for first time buyers in Brentford

With its ‘Head Start' offer, Barratt is helping first time buyers to gain a foothold on the property ladder. The ‘Head Start' initiative allows buyers to move into a brand new apartment for only 85 per cent of the purchase price, while still owning a full 100 per cent of the property. There is no deposit to pay and Barratt will pay the Stamp Duty; the buyer just pays the legal fees. No interest or rent is payable on the 15 per cent deferred, which is paid back as 15 per cent of the property's open market value at any time up to the resale of the property or within ten years, whichever is sooner. Barratt will also pay the 5 per cent deposit for all first time home buyers.
Andrew Storey, Managing Director of Barratt West London, commented, "Nobody does more to help first time buyers than Barratt and Great West Quarter is an ideal location for young buyers seeking their first home in London."
When complete, Great West Quarter, in Brentford, will provide 773 one, two and three-bedroom apartments, including both private and affordable homes, shops, restaurants, a bar, a health club, an art gallery, a crèche, an hotel and serviced apartments. The central piazza, extending to over an acre, has been designed as a venue for public events and will provide the setting for a number of art installations. This piazza, along with courtyards and play areas, will create a focal point for community activities.
The landscaping has been designed by Whitelaw Turkington and will include a green corridor for wildlife, while bat and bird boxes constructed on the site will enhance natural biodiversity.
The Grade II listed Wallis House will provide commercial space along with approximately 100 residential apartments. The East Wing of Wallis House was commissioned by Simmonds Aerocessories in 1936, while the West Wing and Tower were constructed between 1937 and 1942. Wallis House, designed by Wallis Gilbert & Partners, is one of three remaining original buildings along what was known, in its heyday, as ‘The Golden Mile.'
Though Wallis House, an Art Deco icon, is an impressive reminder of times gone by, the apartments themselves embody modern sophistication and pragmatism. Studio apartments in Wallis House are available from £225,000. One-bedroom apartments are available from £285,000. Two-bedroom apartments are available from £399,995.
Beecham House, a five-storey building, provides the first newly built homes at Great West Quarter, and comprises 28 studio, one-bedroom and two-bedroom apartments. Many have balconies that offer views along the pedestrian boulevard toward the central piazza or over Carville Hall Park. Prices are from £225,000.
