Family homes are still in hot demand

25th June 2008 Print
Family homes are still in hot demand In just seven weeks since Oakdene Homes’ residential development, Cravenwood was launched; over 25% of the scheme has been sold. The development located in the village of Weeley in Essex is experiencing unprecedented market-beating activity for it’s three and four bedroom townhouses.

A report by Allied Surveyors highlights that despite the general slowdown in the UK property market, family homes in good locations are continuing to attract high levels of buyer demand. The Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors supports this research, outlining that in recent months family homes continued to be in greater demand than apartments with 25.2% more chartered surveyors reporting a rise in demand for houses compared to the 16.9% reporting a rise in demand for flats.

Ann Fulker, Sales and Marketing Director for Oakdene Homes comments: “Although purchasers are now being more cautious, Cravenwood has certainly bucked the trend for housing demand. The townhouses at the development address the needs of families by offering spacious and flexible accommodation carefully designed to match contemporary requirements, as well as providing value for money. Additionally, the development’s superb countryside location complete with the estate’s onsite private garden areas, has proved irresistible to family buyers.”

Cravenwood is perfect for those in search of a quieter and more relaxed lifestyle. The scheme, which is part conversion part new build, is set within beautifully landscaped grounds. Phase One at the traditional Greenfield development comprises two courtyards; The Walled Garden and Mews Cottages, which provide stylish three and four bedroom new build homes, together with a unique two-bedroom Coach house. Phase Two will be launched later in the year and will be the conversion of the former manor house known as Hillside House. Once complete this will offer a unique range of three storey, four bedroom homes.

The Walled Garden and Mews Cottages have been created to the highest specification. Each home offers kitchens benefiting from ceramic floor tiling, Inca fitted kitchen units, granite worktops with upstands and hob splashbacks. The ready to move into kitchens come complete with a selection of Electrolux integrated appliances. Bathrooms and ensuites benefit from white Laufen suites, Hansgrohe chrome taps and fittings, ceramic floor tiling and heated towel rail. The overall effect is a stylish low maintenance home that is perfect for any lifestyle.

Ideally located in the village of Weeley, which boasts a bakers, village shop and restaurant, the development offers residents the opportunity to enjoy the best of both town and country living. It is the perfect haven for families as the lively seaside town of Clacton is just seven miles away and provides the perfect backdrop for a leisurely day on the beach or the chance to browse its many shops and attractions.

Meanwhile the cosmopolitan town of Colchester is within easy reach - just 12 miles from Cravenwood and boasts an array of shops and amenities including a cinema, theatre and a wealth of cafes, bars and restaurants. Weeley railway station is situated just one mile from Cravenwood and offers links to London Liverpool Street, taking approximately one hour and forty-five minutes.

Prices for Cravenwood in the Walled Garden start from £274,950 for a three-bedroom house with double garage. Prices for the Mews Cottages start from £295,950.00 for a three-bedroom house with a garage. The four-bedroom house of Phase One is priced at £319,950 and includes a double garage.
