New scheme for former Scottish Widows site in Brentford
St George West London Ltd is inviting people to view a public exhibition of the proposals for the former Scottish Widows Site (Kew Bridge Road) which have now been submitted for planning approval.Following an extensive community planning process which started just over two years ago the planning application for the site was submitted June 2008. The London Borough of Hounslow will be running their statutory consultation period from 27 June to 18 July 2008 and St George has organised a public exhibition within this period.
Ian Dobie, Managing Director of St George West London Ltd said today:
“We very much hope that people will visit the exhibition and view the proposals. We believe this scheme really works for this site and for Brentford, creating a unique identity and sense of place at this important riverside location.”
The new mixed-use scheme includes commercial units at ground floor and 170 new homes. It is set back from the river to create a new public piazza fronted onto by active uses including a new riverside pub and a new community boat club, funded by St George, which is already up and running. The Masterplan includes a vehicular access route to the 160 space basement car park via an existing service road from Kew Bridge Road. There is also improved pedestrian access to the river and at the corner of Kew Bridge Road and Kew Bridge.
The exhibition will be held in Brentford Community Boating Club Arch under the north side of Kew Bridge adjacent to the site on Friday 11 July – 3pm to 7pm and on Saturday 12 July 11am to 3pm. Brentford Community Boating Club Arch has been refurbished by St George for use by Brentford Community Boating Club.
This exhibition will give local people the opportunity to view the proposals, including a model of the scheme and put questions and comments to staff from John Thompson and Partners and St George.
