When Margarida and Paul Neale were looking for a brand new detached house in their home town of Heybridge, recommendation from one of their offspring led them to the perfect place.

Retirees, Margarida and Paul decided to make the move to a three-bedroom ‘Kennet’ at The Lakes, in Heybridge, after seeing their daughter and her family so happily settled at the beautiful Redrow development, that enjoys a great location and stunning water views.

Margarida explains: “Our previous home was a three-storey property in the town and, although it was a nice, we were keen to move to a detached property that could offer us the same amount of space but in a layout more suited to our lifestyle.

“Our new home offers all this and a lot more. We appreciate the benefits that come with a new-build property – no costly DIY jobs, it tends to be cheaper to run and you are able to move in immediately and start enjoying your new home

“Living close to our daughter was another plus point – we see much more of her and the grandchildren.”

It has quickly become popular thanks to its beautiful views of the River Blackwater and proximity to the picturesque Heybridge Basin, which offers walks along the sea wall. The Lakes is also close to the historic town of Maldon, which is one of the oldest recorded towns in Britain; and is opposite Maldon’s Promenade Park, with its many acres of open space and children’s play areas.

In Heybridge itself there is a shopping complex, restaurants, supermarkets, pubs, and other local amenities and nearby Mill Beach is a popular holiday destination for many people.

Heybridge is approximately 30 minutes outside of Chelmsford, while London Liverpool Street can be reached by direct rail link from nearby Chelmsford or Witham station.
