Homebuilder returns to Ipswich

Homebuilder returns to Ipswich A new development of around 100 homes on the outskirts of Ipswich will give Redrow Homes a welcome return to Suffolk’s county town.

The site of almost five acres, off Bramford Road, has been acquired by the award-winning house builder and, subject to planning consent, will feature a mix of apartments, family homes and affordable housing, with a finished value of circa £18 million.

This acquisition further displays Redrow’s commitment to the area and will add to its portfolio of diverse and stylish homes.

Redrow is currently awaiting detailed planning permission for the development, and Geoff Keer, development director for Redrow Homes (Eastern), says: “This is a great opportunity for us to create a development that will suit people from across the board – from first time buyers to couples and families.

“Ipswich is an exciting place to be at the moment – the town is in the midst of a waterfront regeneration project which we have already been part of, and we’re happy to be in the area again.

“The homes will be close to the River Gipping and the development itself will include an area of open space, while it is close to Ipswich town centre, which puts it in a great location.”

Redrow’s previous ventures in the town have included IP Central and Neptune Marina, the latter being an iconic luxury mixed-use development. As one of the key regeneration projects for the town’s Old Wet Dock area, it proved to be an instant hit when first announced and the 113 apartments sold quickly.

Still within the Ipswich area, Redrow is also currently building a selection of homes at Oakside Park in Kesgrave. The development is conveniently situated at Grange Farm, which is host to a selection of amenities such as a supermarket, library and primary school. Oakside Park features three, four and five-bedroom houses in detached, semi detached and terraced styles.

Based in Basildon, Redrow’s Eastern subsidiary is also building in Colchester and Heybridge, near Maldon, in Essex, Ashford in Kent and Hitchin in Hertfordshire, with two new developments coming soon in Loughton, Essex, and Tonbridge, Kent.

Redrow is hoping to start building its latest venture in Ipswich this July, subject to planning permission, and sales will be launched in Spring 2008.
