Pavilion unveiled in Rendlesham

Persimmon Homes Anglia worked in partnership with Suffolk Coastal District Council and Rendlesham Parish Council to provide the pavilion, four impressive changing rooms, a full sized football pitch, an all weather five-a-side football pitch, a junior pitch plus a children’s play area and open space, for the people of Rendlesham and the surrounding community to enjoy.
Andy Fuller, deputy managing director for Persimmon Homes Anglia, comments: “As a company, we are dedicated to building not only homes, but communities too and I feel the new sports facilities will provide a much needed centre for not only our residents, but the community as a whole.”
Phillip Dunnett, district councillor for Suffolk Coastal District Council, comments: “Since inheriting the planning obligation to provide sports facilities in the takeover of Westbury Homes, Persimmon Homes has gone the extra mile in completing the scheme, which I believe will become a much loved addition to Rendlesham.”
Kevin Heath, chairman of Rendlesham Parish Council, adds: “The much anticipated playing fields and public open space have been the subject of much debate over the last few years, but since the takeover of the original contractor by Persimmon, the parish council has been happy to see the playing fields evolve into such a great amenity and we are delighted to see it open to the public.”
Persimmon is not unusual in its behind-the-scenes support of local community initiatives, as Andy Fuller explains: “We take our social responsibility in the areas within which we build very seriously. Not only do we make financial contributions, but we also enjoy giving our time at a very local level. We are therefore delighted to be making a positive difference in Rendlesham.”
The Parish Council is now interested in talking to any sports clubs wishing to either use the facility or better still make it their home. Any interested parties are asked to contact the clerk to the Parish Council.
